The very first Italian gelato portal, for both gelato makers and gelato lovers
. . . .
The term “Manufacturers of gelato machines” conjures up visions of a typically Italian market, the finest in the world. The Italian association which represents this trade category is ACOMAG.
There are 15 historic Italian brands that belong to ACOMAG, and which are responsible for more than half of world sales of the machinery, fixtures and fittings for gelato shops.
The main suppliers for hand-made gelato shops in Italy and elsewhere are Italian, as their priceless know how and expertise mean higher quality and safety standards, the latter in terms of both nutritional safety and workplace safety.
Italian firms can guarantee excellent results in terms of performance, energy and water savings, as their products are built with choice materials and are compliant with all current safety regulations.
But let’s take a look at what the products in this sector are and what role they play in the manufacture and conservation of gelato.
Display cases and furnishings are indispensable when it comes to conserving and selling gelato, contributing to its quality and to the success of the sales points, partly because the design becomes more attractive by the year.
Pasteurizing machines and creamers are the two pieces of equipment which give gelato its unique creaminess, consistency and lightness, and at the same time ensure optimum hygiene for both the product and the production process, in line with health and safety regulations.
Finally, the equipment includes all of the various tools used in the workshops, from workbenches to metal trays, spatulas etc., and are made out of stainless steel and other high-tech materials, thus ensuring optimum hygiene and performance.
When we take a look at the figures for companies producing gelato machinery, total sales amount to around 300 million euros, whereas when we include fixtures and fittings too, sales rise to 800 million euros.
The same goes for the numbers of staff: around 450 on the machinery, over 1000 if we take into account fixtures and fittings.
Looking abroad, the main export markets are in the European Union, while demand is also growing in new emerging markets, such as the United States and the Far East.
ACOMAG, the National Association of Machinery, Fixtures and Fittings Manufacturers for Gelato, is a no-profit organisation aiming to represent and protect the interests of the category and of its member companies in their dealings with institutions and public administrations, as well as with financial institutions, political, social and cultural groups, both in Italy and abroad. A top priority for the association is to bring together all of the forces within the Association in a concerted effort to promote, defend and develop gelato, especially the hand-made varieties.
