Resto al Sud – Business Support Program
Resto al Sud supports the creation and development of new businesses in Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, and the earthquake-affected areas of Central Italy (Lazio, Marche, Umbria).
This incentive is intended for individuals aged between 18 and 45 years.
Eligible Business Activities:
- Productive activities in the industrial, artisan, agri-food processing, fishing, and aquaculture sectors
- Business and personal services
- Tourism
- Freelance and self-employed activities, either as individuals or as part of a company
Agricultural and commercial activities are excluded from the program.
Changes Introduced by the “Decreto Rilancio” (Relaunch Decree)
With the conversion into law of the Relaunch Decree on July 17, 2020, the Resto al Sud incentive managed by Invitalia has been significantly revised (Article 245 of the Decree).
Key updates include:
- For individual businesses, the maximum funding available has increased from €50,000 to €60,000.
- For partnerships or companies, the maximum remains €50,000 per member, with a total cap of €200,000.
- The non-repayable grant now covers 50% of the investment, while the remaining 50% is offered as a low-interest loan (previously 35% grant and 65% loan).
- An additional non-repayable grant is available to cover working capital costs:
- €15,000 for individual businesses and freelancers
- €10,000 per member for companies, up to a maximum of €40,000
This contribution is disbursed after the investment is completed and if the business meets all financing repayment and legal compliance conditions.
Eligible Expenses:
- Renovation or extraordinary maintenance of real estate (max 30% of the total investment plan)
- Purchase of new machinery, display units, and equipment
- Software and IT services
- Operating expenses (raw materials, utilities, rent, leasing, insurance, etc.) – max 20% of the investment plan
Not eligible:
- Design and promotional expenses
- Consulting services
- Employee wages
