Longarone, November 25, 2022 – Once again, the Veneto Region will take center stage at MIG – the International Exhibition of Artisan Gelato, in collaboration with Longarone Fiere Dolomiti. The 62nd edition of the renowned trade show will take place from November 27 to 30, 2022, in Longarone (Province of Belluno), offering a unique opportunity for professional exchange and innovation in the artisan gelato industry.
A Celebration of Territory and Tradition
At the Veneto Region’s stand in Pavilion D, gelato makers from across the region will showcase daily flavors crafted with top-quality local ingredients. The goal is to promote traditional gelato-making methods while celebrating the region’s agri-food excellence.
Visitors and industry professionals will discover creative and enticing combinations such as:
- Kiwi gelato (certified quality) with Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil
- Pear gelato (certified quality) with Casatella Trevigiana DOP
- Pumpkin gelato with sheep ricotta
Some flavors highlight Veneto’s renowned wines:
- Gelato made with Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG
- Sbatudin gelato with Recioto di Gambellara DOCG
- Fior d’Arancio Colli Euganei DOCG gelato
Among the novelties is a Bellini gelato, inspired by the famous Venetian cocktail created by Giuseppe Cipriani in the late 1940s at Harry’s Bar. This twist on the global icon features Prosecco DOC and peach flavors. Another showstopper is the “Pink Gelato” – made with strawberries, red currants, and ricotta – a tribute to the 2023 Giro d’Italia, whose 19th stage will depart from Longarone.
From Dessert to Cuisine: The Rise of Gastronomic Gelato
The Veneto stand also explores new culinary uses of gelato, moving beyond dessert to reinterpret classic local dishes. Gelato masters and chefs will collaborate in creating two gourmet plates that spotlight gastronomic gelato as a key ingredient, paired with:
- Radicchio Rosso di Treviso IGP
- Piave DOP Oro cheese
- Lamon IGP beans
Honoring Artisan Tradition and Sustainability
MIG 2022 will also honor the “Maestri Artigiani” – master gelato and pastry artisans officially recognized by the Veneto Region under Law No. 34 (October 8, 2018), which protects and promotes the artisan heritage and its transmission to future generations.
The final day of the fair will feature a zero-kilometer seasonal gelato tasting, highlighting sustainability and local sourcing across the supply chain. A special gelato for athletes will also be unveiled, created in collaboration with sports and nutrition experts to deliver both flavor and functionality.
