Longarone, 30 November 2022 — Barbara Bettera, the artisan behind “Il Gelato di Barbara” in Rivolta d’Adda (Cremona), has clinched her second Coppa d’Oro at the 62nd Mostra Internazionale del Gelato Artigianale (MIG) in Longarone. Her Malaga-flavored gelato, characterized by its rich blend of rum-soaked raisins and velvety cream, impressed the judges, earning her this prestigious accolade once again.
Bettera previously won the Coppa d’Oro in 2019 with her hazelnut flavor, making her one of the few artisans to achieve this honor twice in the competition's 52-year history.
The competition's podium was completed by Sergio Del Favero of “Pausa Gelato” in Arcade (Treviso) and Thomas Infanti of “Antiche Tentazioni” in Padua. Additionally, Francesco Balestra from “La Delizia” in Ottaviano (Naples) received the “Creativity” award for the most visually appealing Malaga gelato presentation .
The 2022 MIG also spotlighted sustainability through the MIG Green Awards. Disaronno Ingredients – Ve.Co.Gel earned top honors for their eco-friendly booth constructed from reclaimed Vaia storm wood. In the innovation category, Iceteam 1927 was recognized for their energy-efficient production systems that allow gelato makers to optimize production cycles based on real-time needs .
The event concluded with the Artglace competition, where Austrian gelato artisans triumphed over their German counterparts with flavors like Mozart, Orange Stracciatella, and Sacher .Dolce Giornale
Reflecting on the event, Michele Dal Farra, President of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, remarked, “MIG 2022 was an extraordinary experience. It showcased not only the art of gelato but also emphasized research and innovation in artisanal products.
