Curtain up on MIG 2022: four days dedicated to Artisan Gelato at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti

Longarone, November 26, 2022 – Everything is ready at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti for the 62nd edition of MIG – the International Exhibition of Artisan Gelato, one of the most historic and prestigious events in the world of gelato. The official opening is scheduled for Sunday, November 27, with President of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia cutting the ribbon at 11:30 AM.

The opening ceremony will be held at the entrance of the fairgrounds, followed by a presentation of MIG 2022 at the Congress Center, where the 3rd “Remembering Giorgio De Pellegrin” Award will be presented.

Gelato, Innovation, and Local Excellence

The first day of the event is packed with highlights. MIG will host the world’s leading producers of artisan gelato and professional equipment for four days, bringing together global excellence under one roof. Artisan gelato – a signature product of Made in Italy – will be showcased alongside the unique specialties of the Veneto Region in a dedicated regional stand, which will also be inaugurated by President Zaia.

The Veneto stand will feature a cold tasting menu from aperitif to dessert, including:

  • Bellini gelato made with Prosecco DOC
  • Kiwi and Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil gelato
  • Pear and Casatella Trevigiana DOP gelato
  • “Sbatudin” gelato with Recioto di Gambellara DOCG
  • Prosecco di Valdobbiadene DOCG gelato

Live Demonstrations and Sweet Creativity

Starting at 2:30 PM, MIG will host a live cooking show titled “Chocolate in the Gelato Shop” with master chefs Cristiano Gaggion and Giorgio Venudo, presented by Confartigianato Alimentazione Nazionale.

“There are many exciting moments lined up for this year’s MIG,” commented Michele Dal Farra, President of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti. “From the presentation of the 2023 Giro d’Italia’s Veneto stages – with legendary cyclists and a special pink gelato – to reunions of Belluno-based gelato artisans who have built success stories abroad, especially in Germany. MIG is not just the leading trade fair for artisan gelato; it is a true agorà where machinery manufacturers and gelato artists – and that’s truly what they are – meet to celebrate and promote one of Italy’s finest gastronomic traditions.”
