European Artisanal Gelato Day: Hallelujah flavor and Life Vaia project take center stage at Agrimont

The countdown is on for the sweetest celebration of the year: European Artisanal Gelato Day 2025. Taking place during the second weekend of Agrimont, this annual event will highlight the best of artisanal gelato with special flavors, sustainability projects, and prestigious awards.

A Unique Celebration for a Unique Product

Artisanal gelato is the only food product officially recognized by the European Parliament with its own dedicated day. Since 2012, thanks to the initiative of Artglace and Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, Gelato Day has become a symbol of European craftsmanship, uniting the continent through tastings, cultural events, and local initiatives that celebrate authenticity, quality, and tradition.

This year’s edition is especially meaningful, as it is dedicated to the Jubilee Year, and the Flavor of the Year 2025 has been fittingly named "Hallelujah"—a tribute in both name and taste. This indulgent flavor combines rich gianduia gelato with toasted hazelnuts and pure chocolate swirls, promising a divine tasting experience.

Visitors to Agrimont will have the chance to try this exclusive flavor on Sunday, March 23, during a free tasting session at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

From Sustainability to Flavor: Life Vaia and the "Honey of Rebirth"

Alongside Hallelujah, another flavor will shine at this year’s event: a mountain-style organic milk gelato swirled with honey sourced from pilot sites of the Life Vaia Project, located in the Cansiglio Forest and the Asiago Plateau.

Life Vaia is an environmental initiative aimed at regenerating forests devastated by extreme weather events and promoting natural climate adaptation through innovative reforestation techniques. One of the project’s standout products is the "Honey of Rebirth", a symbol of ecological resilience, which will be featured in the special honey-variegated flavor created in collaboration with Lattebusche, using their premium organic milk.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote Veneto’s agricultural excellence worldwide, supported by the Veneto Region's internationalization program in partnership with Unioncamere Veneto and Venice Promex (Project No. 20/2024).

The Pocchiesa Journalism Award

The day will also include the Pocchiesa Journalism Award, honoring the legacy of Ivano Pocchiesa, a renowned journalist and author who dedicated his career to promoting artisanal gelato. Pocchiesa served as press officer for Longarone Fiere from 1990 to 1995 and passed away in 2013.

This year’s award goes to Angelo Grasso, a respected figure from Milan known for his lifelong dedication to the growth and education of the artisanal gelato sector. With over 1,000 training courses taught and countless articles published in industry magazines, Grasso has made a lasting impact on the gelato community. The award ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM.

Longarone Fiere Dolomiti: Proud Promoter of Gelato Culture

Launched in 2008 during MIG – the International Exhibition of Artisanal Gelato – the Gelato Day initiative has since grown into a widely recognized European event. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, this day continues to bring together associations, institutions, and gelato lovers from across Europe to celebrate the excellence of artisanal gelato.

If you’re passionate about gelato, sustainability, or Italian traditions, European Artisanal Gelato Day 2025 is the event to mark in your calendar.
