IEG establishes IEG Asia in Singapore, acquiring two new fairs in Jewelry and Food & Beverage

IEG has established “IEG Asia Pte. Ltd.” in Singapore, continuing its development plan in Southeast Asia with the support of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), and has finalized the acquisition of two business branches from CEMS - Conference & Exhibition Management Services, relating to the trade fairs SIJE - Singapore International Jewelry Expo and Café Restaurant Asia.

Rimini, February 28, 2023 – After signing the MOU a few months ago, ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP (IEG) has officially launched in Singapore with its fully controlled company IEG Asia Pte. Ltd. and has acquired two events in the jewelry and food & beverage sectors from CEMS - Conference & Exhibition Management Services. These events are Sije - Singapore International Jewelry Expo and Café and Restaurant Asia.

IEG, the organizer of leading events in Italy in the jewelry and food sectors, such as Vicenzaoro and Sigep, continues its strategy of expanding into Southeast Asia, starting with Singapore, considered the prime hub both logistically and economically. This move is part of a virtuous cycle that strengthens global business for companies originating from Rimini and Vicenza.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has confirmed its support for IEG and IEG Asia to develop existing events and launch new projects to enhance the entire MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) ecosystem in Singapore.

Statements

“We are pleased to confirm our partnership with STB, a guarantee for the growth and success of the acquired events,” says Francesco Santa, International Business Development Director at IEG. “We also want to emphasize how important the synergies between our events in Italy and those we’ve acquired are, showcasing the impact that the internationalization of our fairs will have on the Italian territory.”

According to Ilaria Cicero, CEO of IEG Asia: “Our goal is to grow the events in Singapore, leveraging the success of the latest Vicenzaoro edition held in January 2023, which featured over 1,300 exhibitor brands. The same can be said for Sigep, with its 1,000 businesses at the 2023 edition in Rimini.”

Edward Liu, Managing Director of Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd, says: “With the dawn of the ASEAN era for the MICE industry in Southeast Asia this decade, and the goal of bringing the newly acquired events to an international level for Singapore, we are excited to collaborate with IEG, which organizes Sigep in Rimini and Vicenzaoro in Vicenza. These flagship events will certainly complement both Café and Restaurant Asia and Singapore International Jewelry Expo. IEG's strategic plan to expand into the Asian region will accelerate the growth of these events to meet the needs of the Asian market, a positive outlook for the MICE industry in Singapore in the coming years.”

Poh Chi Chuan, Executive Director, Exhibitions and Conferences of the Singapore Tourism Board, states: “We warmly welcome IEG’s increased presence in Singapore and its projects to develop renowned global events here. IEG's plans, along with the recent opening of its office in Singapore, emphasize how our MICE sector is on a strong recovery trajectory. We look forward to collaborating on bringing new fairs to other sectors as global business travel resumes.”
