MIG 2023 closes with 8,200 Attendees

Strong focus on innovation for a changing format that supports Businesses.

The MIG 2023 was not just a trade fair, but a hub of thought and innovation. The International Artisan Gelato Show, held at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti in late November, introduced a renewed format focused on industry professionals, with three main pillars: patents and start-ups (highlighting the collaboration between artisanal gelato and food science and health, with the participation of CNR for the first time at Longarone Fiere); successful case histories of gelaterias; and gelato in fine dining, showcasing dishes based on “frozen desserts” and innovative, sometimes “extreme” pairings that highlight the high quality of a product emblematic of Made in Italy.

"This year’s edition of MIG was an initial experiment, aimed at testing a new format model. We focused the exhibition on the figure of the gelato entrepreneur, providing services for businesses," says Michele Dal Farra, President of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti. "The initial feedback has been positive, but every experiment requires a thorough period of analysis. This is why Longarone Fiere Dolomiti will continue to explore how to further drive innovation in MIG, moving beyond the traditional concept of a trade fair that no longer exists. This doesn’t mean erasing the history of this event, which has written important chapters for Longarone. Rather, it means writing many more chapters for an exceptional product, admired and copied worldwide."

STRONG INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE

The MIG 2023—its first edition exclusively for industry professionals—closed with 8,203 attendees over four days. Of these, 2,670 were foreign visitors, confirming the international reach of the exhibition. International attendees came from 37 countries, with Germany leading the way (2,128 visitors), followed by Austria (239) and Spain (112). This year, participants also hailed from Croatia, Argentina, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Serbia, Hungary (including the “twinning” between Longarone Fiere Dolomiti and Sirha Budapest, the most important biennial Hungarian exhibition dedicated to the agri-food sector), Bulgaria, Japan, Slovenia, Albania, Poland, Belgium, Morocco, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Malta, Russia, Ethiopia, Montenegro, Ghana, Bosnia, Turkey, Denmark, Greece, Belarus, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Algeria, Slovakia, Norway, Moldova, and Malaysia.

"At MIG, more and more languages are spoken, which is important for spreading the value of artisanal gelato," concludes President Michele Dal Farra. "Considering the average investment per exhibitor for four days at the fair, in relation to the visitor reach, we find it to be an excellent investment for potential contacts. This highly competitive value makes Longarone Fiere Dolomiti and MIG very attractive."
