Following the Gelato Asia Cup in Singapore — where Japan, Singapore, and South Korea secured their spots — and the Gelato Europe Cup in Rimini, which qualified Germany, France, Italy, and Belgium, the spotlight now turns to China for its own showcase of gelato excellence.
Sigep China Cup: Talent, Tradition, and Innovation
Now in its second edition after a successful 2023 debut, the Gelato China Cup is expected to feature an impressive lineup of top Chinese gelato artisans. The event promises high-level competition focused on technical mastery, artistic expression, and culinary innovation. The goal: to win a place among the 12 international teams competing for the world title.
Representing the Gelato World Cup executive committee will be Sergio Colalucci, President, and Sergio Dondoli, Commissioner — both internationally recognized masters of the craft.
The competing teams will be evaluated across multiple disciplines that challenge both their creativity and professional precision. Each squad will be required to demonstrate expertise in flavors, presentation, and teamwork to reflect the true essence of artisan gelato.
A Unique Team Format for the Global Stage
Each team competing in the Gelato World Cup 2026 will consist of four key members:
- A Team Manager
- A Gelato Maker
- A Pastry Chef
- A Chef
This multidisciplinary format underscores the synergy between gastronomic tradition and culinary innovation, bringing together distinct talents to celebrate gelato as a global art form.
Celebrating Artisan Gelato on a Global Stage
Organized by Gelato & Cultura in collaboration with Sigep by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, the Gelato World Cup has grown into a benchmark event for professionals worldwide. It’s more than a competition — it’s a celebration of creativity, culture, and technical excellence.
“The Gelato World Cup is more than just a contest — it’s an international stage where talent, technique, and imagination converge to celebrate artisan gelato excellence,” says Sergio Colalucci, President of the Gelato World Cup. “Our mission is to inspire a new generation of professionals and promote a culture that connects Italy’s artisanal heritage with global food trends.”
What’s Next
With upcoming semi-finals in China and the Americas, the final list of 12 competing nations will soon be complete. The countdown to January 2026 in Rimini has officially begun, and the world of gelato is watching.
