SIGEP World 2025 presented in Berlin with a focus on Internationalism and Innovations

Italian Exhibition Group presented the upcoming edition of SIGEP WORLD to stakeholders and foodservice professionals in Germany.

An international business event for the Gelato, Coffee, Pastry & Chocolate, Bakery, and, for the first time, Pizza sectors.

Berlin, 15 November 2024 – An international roadshow for an event that is increasingly looking toward the world.

Yesterday, at the Italian Embassy in Berlin, in collaboration with ICE Agenzia, Italian Exhibition Group introduced the next edition of SIGEP WORLD, The World Expo for Foodservice Excellence, scheduled to take place in Italy at the Rimini Fair from 18 to 22 January 2025. The Berlin event, attended by institutions and stakeholders from the German market, highlighted the opportunities offered by SIGEP WORLD, which serves as a reference point for international foodservice professionals.

“The speakers shared their experiences and vision on how the foodservice industry in Germany is adapting to global changes,” summarizes Marco Carniello, Chief Business Officer of IEG. “And it was confirmed how SIGEP WORLD is central to staying updated on market developments, anticipating trends, and building relationships with key international stakeholders.”

“In January,” anticipates Flavia Morelli, Group Exhibition Manager for IEG’s Food & Beverage Division, “we will add the complementary Pizza sector to the traditional ones of Gelato, Coffee, Pastry & Chocolate, and Bakery. This addition is key to strengthening SIGEP WORLD’s positioning in foodservice, especially for professionals coming from outside of Europe, where consumption is growing rapidly.”

Jochen Pinsker of Circana: An Overview of Foodservice in Europe

In Berlin, Jochen Pinsker, Senior Vice President, Industry Advisor Foodservice Europe at Circana, presented market data on foodservice consumption trends in Europe. Despite a drop in visits to retail locations, spending in the sector recorded an 8% increase compared to 2019 as per September’s findings. Circana’s forecasts show a 3.5% annual growth in consumption for the next two years, with pastry, gelato, and coffee leading the way in terms of growth. These sectors are key players in SIGEP WORLD’s exhibition offerings.

Germany in the Spotlight and SIGEP Opportunities

During the roadshow, the focus also shifted to the German market, with key foodservice players participating, including Gerald Schenk, President of the German Pastry Association and Vice President of the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC), Giorgio Ballabeni, Co-founder of Ballabeni Icecream, and Markus Elberg, former CEO of Jannys Eis Franchise GmbH.

SIGEP Vision: A Glimpse into the Future of Foodservice

At the heart of the innovations for SIGEP WORLD 2025 is SIGEP Vision, a global observatory for the foodservice industry, developed with the leading international research institutes. It will provide a comprehensive view of the changes, challenges, and opportunities awaiting the sector.

Moreover, with the exhibition layout expanding by adding two new pavilions, bringing the total exhibition area to 138,000 square meters, the fair will broaden its product offerings. Among the highlights of SIGEP WORLD 2025 will be Taste of Tomorrow, a new sustainable gelato concept based on bioarchitecture, the Sustainability District dedicated to the coffee and chocolate supply chains – from origin countries to the cup – and the Bean-to-Bar Area, celebrating the art and science of chocolate production, with dedicated spaces.

International Focus

SIGEP WORLD 2025 will be more global than ever, expecting attendees from 160 countries and hosting 3,000 international buyers through the incoming buyer program in collaboration with ICE Agenzia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event will showcase 1,200 international brands, offering not only high-quality finished products but also cutting-edge technologies, innovative ingredients, and customized services.

Rimini: An Excellent Location to Host the Foodservice Community

For 46 years, SIGEP World has been held in Rimini, one of Italy’s most famous tourist destinations, offering a vast selection of hotels, restaurants, and international connections to meet the diverse needs of visitors. It provides an exceptional experiential location for foodservice operators.
