Longarone, November 11, 2022 – The “Coppa d’Oro” International Competition returns to the Mostra Internazionale del Gelato (MIG) from November 27 to 30 in Longarone. This prestigious competition, now in its 52nd edition, is considered the world’s Oscar for artisan gelato. Each year, it provides an opportunity for gelato masters worldwide to showcase their professional skills. This year, the challenge will revolve around the Malaga flavor, a classic that, after disappearing from many gelato displays, is making a strong comeback. Contestants will need to expertly combine several ingredients, including milk, eggs, and a touch of wine, specifically Malaga wine.
Last year, Curzio Baraggi from Prossima Fermata Gelateria in Milan claimed the top spot. However, many others are eager to see their names etched on the Albo d’Oro (Golden Register) of this prestigious competition. Satoshi Takada, the celebrated maestro from Japan, who won the first edition of the Gelato a Due competition in 2019 with chef Takeshi Kamada, has already requested his pass for the MIG 2022.

A Tribute to UNESCO World Heritage Sites
In addition to the unparalleled prestige this competition offers, this year’s edition will highlight the colors and flavors of three renowned UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which are internationally famous. Longarone Fiere Dolomiti has prepared a special tribute for the first-place winner: three nights for two people at some of the most stunning locations in the Veneto region, from Cortina to Venice, passing through the Prosecco Hills. The second and third-place winners will enjoy a "Michelin-starred dinner for two" to celebrate their exceptional achievements and soften the disappointment of missing out on the top spot.
