Rimini, 30 October 2024 – The two new pavilions, which will enrich the Rimini exhibition center until the construction of the large dome on the West side, are ready. These pavilions will add an additional 8,300 sqm of space for upcoming Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) events.
The work also includes the creation of a new East Hall, which, starting with Ecomondo, scheduled from Tuesday, November 5 to Friday, November 8, will welcome exhibitors and visitors.
In recent days, final adjustments have been made, and from today, the structures are available for setup in preparation for Ecomondo. The event will mark the official opening of the new pavilions, named ‘B8’ and ‘D8’, directly connected to the adjacent B7 and D7 pavilions.
“October 2024 is an important date for IEG and for Rimini,” says Maurizio Ermeti, President of IEG. "Ecomondo will officially inaugurate these two new pavilions with an extra 8,300 sqm of exhibition space. Built in record time, just four and a half months, these additional pavilions will immediately meet the space needs of our rapidly growing events. After Ecomondo, the new pavilions will be used for SIGEP in January next year. These will be the two largest trade fairs Rimini has ever hosted, creating new wealth for the entire area.”
Corrado Peraboni, CEO of IEG, adds, “Some say we’ve built these new pavilions in ‘Chinese time’... In reality, we completed them within the timeframe that Italians are capable of when businesses and institutions work together. But today, we’ve simply reached a milestone in our growth path. The expansion of the Rimini exhibition center doesn’t stop here. This is just a step to allow our events to keep growing, awaiting the construction of the new large pavilion on the West side, continuing to drive the growth of a company that generates wealth for the region, as per IEG’s mission."
The new East Entrance and exhibition areas are equipped with the latest visitor check-in technology. There will be no traditional turnstiles; instead, entry tickets will be verified using handheld devices to ensure smoother entry and exit flow.
The overall coordination of the project was handled by IEG's Operations Rimini Team, led by Mirco Zamponi, while the Mijic Architects team oversaw the design, project direction, and safety. The ground preparation works were handled by Pesaresi, and the temporary structures were provided and installed by the German company HTS. The plants were designed by Polistudio of Riccione and built by F.lli Franchini. Other consultants included TI Studio for safety and Sarti Studio for structural aspects.
