Longarone Fiere Dolomiti at the Nutrage workshop in Palermo

Gelato is not only a pleasure for the palate, but it can also bring concrete benefits to our health. This was the main theme of the workshop "Nutrage - Nutrition, Food and Active Aging", which took place in Palermo from 17 to 19 May.

During the event, the first results of an interesting experiment conducted on a group of volunteers were presented. The participants tasted a n artisan gelato enriched with a natural antioxidant molecule, while their brain and cardiovascular reactions were monitored.

The results of the study will be presented at the Mig 2024 fair, which will be held in Longarone in November.

Gelato and health: a possible combination

Scientific research shows that consuming gelato can have positive effects at both a physiological and psychological level. For example, gelato can stimulate the production of serotonin, improving mood. In addition, a study by the Institute of Psychiatry in London found that gelato activates the orbitofrontal cortex, responsible for joyful emotions, even after the first bite.

The Nutrage project

The Nutrage project aims to develop new technologies and innovations to address the challenge of active and healthy aging. The goal is to identify the role of food in preventing and delaying the main diseases associated with aging.

A multidisciplinary approach for a better future

The Nutrage project takes a multidisciplinary approach that involves researchers, scientists and food companies. This collaborative approach is essential to develop new high-nutritional-value foods, personalized dietary regimes and specific nutrition programs.

Longarone Fiere Dolomiti: a bridge between research and business
